Courthouse Update 6

On April 17, 2019, the Loudon County Courthouse suffered major fire and water damage after a fire started in the attic of the 148 year old structure. Six years later, the reconstruction is nearing completion.

Thus far, the insurance company has spent $10,348,010.00 on the rebuild. The county has spent another $454,454.00 on certain upgrades that weren't considered fire damage but were needed to improve some of the buildings features.

I will have to admit I was wrong. After the fire, I predicted it would take five years and ten million dollars to reopen the courthouse. It appears it will be six years and eleven million dollars to get it open.

The county is planning to hold an public open house at the courthouse next month. No date certain has been announced yet.
